Terms of Service
Last updated: 15 June 2026
1. Who we are
DIYTravel is operated by Applit Ltd. If you have questions about these terms, contact us at support@diytravel.io.
2. What the service is
DIYTravel is a travel planning tool. We help you discover destinations, build itineraries, and find booking links. We are not a travel agent, tour operator, or booking platform. We do not sell flights, accommodation, or tours. Any bookings you make are directly with third-party providers.
3. Your account
You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account. One account per person.
4. Payments
DIYTravel offers a Free tier and a Premium tier. Premium access can be purchased in two ways: a one-time Trip Pass (90 days, non-renewing) or a recurring monthly or annual subscription (auto-renewing). All payments are processed via Stripe.
Trip Pass (one-time payment)
- A one-time payment grants Premium access for 90 days from the purchase date.
- Non-renewing: the Trip Pass does not auto-renew. Access ends automatically when the 90-day period expires. We will not charge you again unless you choose to purchase another Pass.
- Stacking: if you purchase a Trip Pass while one is still active, the new Pass extends your existing expiry by a further 90 days rather than starting from purchase date.
- The Trip Pass is non-transferable and tied to the account that purchased it.
Monthly & annual subscriptions
- Auto-renewal: subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel before the renewal date.
- Cancellation: you may cancel at any time via your account settings. Access continues until the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds are given for unused time.
- Failed payments: if a payment fails, we will retry and notify you. After 7 days of failed payment, Premium access may be suspended until payment succeeds.
Common terms (apply to both Trip Pass and subscriptions)
- 14-day cooling-off: under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you may cancel your purchase within 14 days for a full refund, provided you have not used Premium features during that period. If you begin using Premium features (e.g. running an AI generation), you acknowledge that the cooling-off right is lost.
- Refunds: outside the 14-day cooling-off period, no refunds are available except where required by law.
- Fair use: Premium AI features and saved-trip storage are subject to reasonable fair-use limits so the service stays reliable and affordable for everyone. We may apply usage caps and act on abusive or automated use. “Premium” does not mean unlimited AI usage, on either product.
- Price changes: we may change prices with at least 30 days' notice. For subscriptions, changes apply at the next renewal, not mid-cycle. Trip Pass price changes do not affect Passes already purchased.
5. AI-generated content
Our AI features (available to Premium subscribers) generate itinerary suggestions, activity recommendations, destination descriptions, destination comparisons, match explanations, result reframing, day refinements, trip-health summaries, packing lists, and cultural and dress-code notes for packing. These are suggestions only and may contain inaccuracies.
You are solely responsible for independently verifying:
- Availability and opening hours of venues, attractions, and restaurants
- Booking confirmations and reservation details
- Visa, passport, and travel document requirements
- Health and safety advisories for your destination
- Local laws and customs
- Cultural, religious, and dress-code advice, especially for entry to religious sites
We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of any AI-generated content. You should not rely on AI outputs as your sole source of travel planning information. AI may produce outdated, incorrect, or fabricated information.
AI access is subject to fair use and is not unlimited. We apply reasonable usage limits — including daily and monthly caps — to AI features to manage fair use, cost, reliability, and abuse prevention. We may throttle, limit, or suspend AI access for automated, scripted, or excessive use.
Some AI responses may be cached and reused for identical or materially similar inputs, so a repeated response may not always be newly generated.
6. Destination data
Seasonality scores, cost estimates, and interest ratings reflect historical patterns and are approximate. Cost estimates (marked with “~”) are baselines for comparison, not live prices. Always check current conditions before travelling.
7. Affiliate relationships
Some booking links on DIYTravel are affiliate links. If you book through these links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Prices are not increased when you use affiliate links. Our current affiliate partners are GetYourGuide and Viator. Our affiliate partners may change from time to time.
Affiliate relationships do not influence our recommendation algorithm. Destinations and activities are ranked by match score, not by commission. You are free to book directly with any provider.
8. Third-party services
- Bookings are between you and the provider (hotel, tour operator, airline).
- We are not a party to any booking transaction.
- Complaints, refunds, and cancellations should be directed to the provider, not DIYTravel.
- We do not guarantee the availability, pricing, or quality of third-party services.
9. Collaboration & sharing
- You control who you invite to your trip.
- Invitations are sent by email. The person you invite must accept the invitation before they can access the trip, and may need to create an account first. You can revoke or re-send pending invitations, and unaccepted invitations expire.
- Editors can modify itinerary content — you accept this risk when granting edit access.
- Public share links make trip data visible to anyone with the URL.
- We use last-write-wins for concurrent edits — we do not guarantee conflict resolution.
10. Intellectual property
- Destination data, routes, archetypes, and scoring models are proprietary to DIYTravel.
- You own your personal trip content (notes, custom items, bookings).
- AI-generated content is licensed for your personal, non-commercial use.
- You may not scrape, copy, or reproduce our destination database.
11. Service availability
DIYTravel is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Features may be changed, updated, or removed at any time. We may perform maintenance that temporarily affects availability. We will endeavour to give reasonable notice of planned downtime.
12. Acceptable use & prohibited content
DIYTravel is a travel planning service. You agree not to submit content that is unlawful, abusive, or harmful. Prohibited content includes, but is not limited to:
- Profanity and slurs, especially toward protected groups
- Sexually explicit content
- Harassment, doxxing, or credible threats of violence
- References to illegal activity (e.g. buying or selling controlled substances, weapons, stolen goods, or fraud)
- Any content involving the endangerment of minors
We use automated systems to detect prohibited content in user-submitted text, including AI chat messages, itinerary content, booking notes, place labels, and trip titles. AI-generated content is also screened before being saved.
Enforcement is severity-aware:
- Lower-tier nuisance content is blocked from being saved. No further action is taken.
- Higher-tier violations (slurs, sexually explicit content, illegal-activity references) are blocked AND count as a strike on your account. Strike 1 = warning. Strike 2 = stronger warning. Strike 3 = your account is automatically suspended pending review (read-only access; no AI features, no edits, no new trips). Strikes age out 90 days after they occur.
- Critical-safety content (credible violence or death threats, doxxing, content involving endangerment of minors, terrorism) results in immediate suspension pending review on the first occurrence. We may also report such content to appropriate authorities where legally required.
Suspension is a temporary read-only state pending human review. Reinstatement or termination is a manual decision made by a member of our team after review of your account's history. Termination is described in §13 below. These checks apply equally to free and Premium accounts.
13. Account suspension & termination
We may suspend or terminate your account without prior notice if you:
- Breach these terms
- Use the service for fraud or illegal activity
- Abuse AI features (e.g. automated or excessive requests)
- Attempt to scrape, reverse-engineer, or misuse the platform
- Engage in conduct that harms other users or the service
- Materially or repeatedly breach our Acceptable Use Policy (§12)
On termination, your access ceases immediately. You may request export of your personal data within 30 days.
If your account is terminated because you have materially breached these Terms or our Acceptable Use Policy, no refund will be issued for any unused portion of a Premium subscription, except where required by law. This does not affect your statutory rights.
On termination, any active Premium subscription will be set to cancel at the end of the current billing period. You will not be charged for future renewals.
Account termination is a manual decision made by a member of our team after review of the suspension record. Suspension precedes termination; termination is never automatic.
14. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to: missed flights, cancelled bookings, travel delays, loss of enjoyment, loss of data, or lost profits.
- To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any loss arising from your reliance on AI-generated content, destination data, cost estimates, or seasonal information.
- To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for the acts or omissions of third-party service providers (hotels, airlines, tour operators) linked from our platform.
- Our total aggregate liability for any claims arising from or related to your use of DIYTravel shall not exceed the amount you have paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
- Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.
15. Communications
We send you service emails relating to your account and trips, such as a welcome email, trip-collaboration invitations, summaries of changes collaborators make to your trips, departure reminders, and trip-preparation prompts. These are part of providing the service.
You can manage which optional emails you receive in your account settings, and every marketing-style or digest email includes a one-click unsubscribe link. Some messages — for example collaboration invitations and essential account or billing notices — are necessary to operate the service and are not optional.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you retain any mandatory protections of your country of residence.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top will change accordingly. Material changes will be notified by email or in-app notice. Continued use of DIYTravel after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
